The USU is aware of confirmed and anecdotal cases of Energy Branch members being subjected to abuse from customers and the general public.
Ausgrid is running a campaign titled “Give Us a Wave” in response to its staff being subjected to abuse in instances where power is having to be interrupted. Your union is fully supportive of this campaign.
Given the mutual obligations of employers and employees to ensure the workplace is safe, we ask that anyone who is subjected to abuse, either in person or over the phone, to report it to their supervisor in the first instance and follow that up by notifying their relevant organiser so that we can work with our members and your employers to ensure your safety.
