I was privileged to represent Australia as a referee at the Touch Football World Cup in Nottingham, UK between 15-21 July 2024.

I refereed 12 games across the tournament refereeing teams from Australia, New Zealand, France, Wales, Fiji, Ireland, Spain and the Middle East. My final game was the Women’s 40s semi-final New Zealand vs England. New Zealand won that game but went on to lose to Australian in the final.

Australia dominated across all age groups winning 12/13 divisions.

The Touch World Cup was the highlight of my refereeing career and the longest touch football tournament (7 days) ever. It made all the time, energy and training worthwhile. I was able to share the event with referees from all over the world with 191 referees attending and 39 countries participating is the largest touch football world cup ever.

I was really proud to have had financial support from the USU as well as being able to access the time off thanks to long service leave – an entitlement won by Australian workers and our unions. We are always stronger when we work together, both on and off the field.
