The need for mental health support is growing across sectors, across communities, and across the union movement. It’s something every workplace should take seriously.
As part of your union’s commitment to mentally safe workplaces, we recently made a donation to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander MHFA programs.
Since 2007, the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander MHFA programs have been co-designed by and for First Nations communities, training local leaders to recognise and respond to mental health challenges in culturally safe ways.
While the donation is just one small gesture, the USU remains committed to advocating for safer, more mentally healthy workplaces for all.
USU staff have also undertaken Mental Health First Aid training themselves. Led by trainer and USU staff member Julie Louis, the course has been offered to employees across the union to better equip our own workplaces and support networks.
